Diocesan Chrism Mass – Wednesday 16 April 2025
The Chrism Mass is a sacred liturgy that marks the beginning of the Triduum leading to the celebration of Easter.
At the Chrism Mass, the bishop blesses the holy oils that will be used throughout the year:
* The Oil of Catechumens, used during the Rite of Baptism to strengthen and prepare candidates for new life in Christ
* The Oil of the Sick, used in the Anointing of the Sick and the Last Rites, for those in need of healing, comfort, and peace
* Sacred Chrism, used in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders, and in the consecration of churches and altars.
The priests of the diocese also gather to renew the vows made at their ordination — a powerful witness of unity and priestly commitment.
Join us on Wednesday evening, 16 April 2025, at 7:30p.m. in the Cathedral of Saints Patrick & Felim, Cavan as we gather with Bishop Martin Hayes and the priests of the Diocese of Kilmore for this solemn celebration.
All are welcome.
