Season of Creation Planting – Kinawley 2021

Season of Creation Planting –  St. Naile’s Church, Kinawley

Fr. Maurice McMorrow (P.P., Kinawley-Killesher) and Patricia Keenan, (Chairperson, Kilmore Diocesan Laudato Si’ Group)

After celebrating the end of the Season of Creation with Mass at 10.30am on Sunday 3rd October 2021, a purple beech tree and daffodil bulbs were planted on the grounds of Kinawley Church. There was much joy as the congregation watched in support.

Pope Francis is inviting the Church to join the Laudato Si’ journey.  Over the next seven years, parishes are invited to sign up to achieve seven Laudato Si’ Goals and become a Laudato Si’ Parish.  The Kilmore Diocese along with other Dioceses, Trócaire and Eco Congregation Ireland are offering their support to parish communities to make this a reality.  For further details, please contact your P.P / Pastoral Area Vicar Forane or email

Right now, one key action for Catholics and non-Catholics is to sign the Healthy Planet, Healthy People petition.  Pope Francis will present the petition to world leaders at the COP26 Conference being held in Glasgow in November.  We invite you to sign online at:

We celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi on 4th October 2021.  He is the patron saint of ecology and saw God in all of creation.   He reminds us that planet earth, ‘our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us’ (LS1).
