Synodal Sunday Reflection – 29 October 2023

Fr Declan Hurley offers a reflection on this Sunday’s Gospel from the Shrine of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux where he reflects upon Thérèse’s spirituality and how she is able to get to the heart of what the Gospel is all about – Love. Thérèse discovers her vocation to be love at the heart of the Church and Fr Declan reminds us that Jesus’ reply to the Pharisees in this Sunday’s Gospel is also about love; the love of God and love of others. Fr Declan invites us to live the central message of the Gospel and, with confidence and trust, to proclaim it too!

Fr Declan is a priest of the Diocese of Meath and is the Administrator of St Mary’s Parish in Navan. Fr Declan was also the co-chair of the National Steering Committee of the Irish Synodal Pathway during its two-year term.
