Synodal Sunday Reflection – Day for Life 2023

Bishop Kevin Doran, Bishop of Elphin and chairperson of the Irish Catholic Bishops Conference’s Council for Life, reminds us that God never abandons us; that the God of the Exodus is a God who carries His people on eagle’s wings and sets them free. This Day for Life, Jane shares her story (Jane’s Story) and Bishop Kevin reminds us that as we walk along the path of this synodal journey we may need to adjust our pace and walk more closely with women like Jane in order to hear their stories.

In his reflection, Bishop Kevin also highlights some of the supports that are available to women and men that have been by affected by abortion, including Rachel’s Vineyard, a safe place for people to renew and rebuild their life after experiencing the trauma of abortion. Their healing weekends offer a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental environment where women and men can deal with painful post-abortive emotions.
